My First Experience as a StreetSurfing Team Member

OK, so here I go… all the way to So. Cal. to be a Street Surfing Team member and learn everything there is to know about this action board called “The Wave.” When I arrived, these guys looked like they were pro’s.

I was in a hotel lobby, chatting with strangers and asking millions of questions, because that’s what I do. Robby, from Orlando, seemed to know everything. He has been a team member for two years. He really broke things down for me.

I loved meeting the whole team. They quickly became friends, almost like family. Some of these guys are real pro riders, but I came to find out that they were just like us newbies. They were down to earth and made riding The Wave look easy. All I remember was sitting in a conference room and wondering how great it was to be a part of something so cool. The young company, not only is growing in product development, but also is growing in recognition. So in a nutshell, I am joining a team that gets to do this for a living! How fun!

The three days I spent in California for training, were three days I will always cherish. The greatest part was meeting my fellow riders. We were there to learn about riding the wave board and teaching others to ride it. It was all about teamwork. And that was good enough to form friendships that will be remembered for a lifetime!

When we went out on the street and started teaching people to ride, it was a blast. Seeing the excitement in someone’s face the first time they ride The Wave is priceless!

So if anyone asks me what my work status is: I reply: I am a Street Surfing Team member. I get to ride “The Wave” all day, and all night!

Thanks!

Captain’s Blog: Wave Date February 15, 2008!

Hey Crew! This is your Team Captain reporting for the first installment of the Captain’s Blog. Here’s a quick update about what’s going on in my world of Street Surfing.

First of all, I’ve been traveling like a madman on “The Wave In-Studio Tour”! I found myself meeting up with Street Surfing Team members all across the States to appear on television shows and filming trick videos. The word’s on the street about how cool The Wave is and people on TV want us to rip it up and show them how to ride.

In Pittsburgh, PA, team member Miael and I skated a morning show for KDKA-TV. Afterwards, I checked out the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium hoping to teach some monkeys how to kick-flip…no go! Next, I flew back to Cali to make an appearance on KCRA-TV in Sacramento. Somebody mentioned a ‘rail’ museum, and I thought, “GRIND”! It was the California State Railroad Museum…not the same kind of rails, but cool anyway!

After visiting four or five other cities, I arrived in Miami! It was an awesome 85 degrees. Sunshine and beach, yes! I met up with Rhode Island Team member Tim Fox and Miami’s own Robby Cruz to do some filming for the agro new trick clips located at streetsurfing.com/tricks. Tricks on The Wave are SICK! I mean, check out this serious kick flip link. Wha!?!

It was time to fly back to Newport Beach, California. My head hit the airplane seat headrest and before I knew it I was dreaming of 180 body variels and acid drops. Tires on the ground, I checked in at Street Surfing Headquarters. While at the office, I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek at the upcoming designs for 2008. There are some sweet, new deck plates hitting the shelves ASAP. A couple of the designs were voted on and picked by you, The Crew! Good work and, might I add, you have great taste.

That’s a wrap for now. Look for my next reports soon.

Later…
