New Lighter, Affordable Board is an Open Invite for New Riders to Get in on the Fun
NEWPORT BEACH, CA – March 24, 2009 – Tough economic times call for innovative measures. Street Surfing, LLC, the originator of the Wave caster board, is introducing kid-powered, affordable fun -- the new Wave LX – a 30 percent lighter caster board, to its arsenal of award-winning Wave products. The Wave LX will be in stores this spring.
The Wave LX (LIGHT XTREME), the lightest Wave board to date, is a redesign of the popular Wave line of boards which blend motions of surfing, snowboarding and skateboarding to the fast growing and popular sport of Street Surfing. The new LIGHT XTREME web deck design is perfect for tricks, riding up hill or surfing the streets. The wider platform provides great stability for novice riders or skilled street surfers.

The new Wave LX, made from the same high quality Wave materials, has a web reinforced design that allows for the overall lighter weight. The board utilizes the patented caster board duel deck plate and anodized torsion bar design. The Wave LX (suggested retail price $79.99) is available at major sporting goods stores and leading retailers this spring in an assortment of colors and graphics for all riders.

STREET SURFING MAKES GLOBAL WAVES WITH A FUN AND FIT EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM
SPRINGFIELD, MA (February 15, 2009) -- In an effort to motivate children on the importance of fitness, Street Surfing, makers of the Wave, the world’s first caster board, has taken a hands-on educational message to schools and students around the globe: “It’s cool to be fit.”
Since the Street Surfing Physical Education (PE) Program launched in 2006, Street Surfing instructors have disguised a healthy activity into a cool lifestyle choice for millions of students in thousands of schools across the globe (all 50 U.S. States, Europe, Asia/Pacific and Latin America). A standard class room presentation provides an active lesson to students on the importance of exercise and learning proper body mechanics all while riding the Wave, casterboard, which blends the motions of surfing, snowboarding and skateboarding to the fast growing and popular sport of street surfing.
In 2007, Street Surfing went global with its Street Surfing PE Program and today it has expanded to include more than a dozen countries. In 2009 alone it has reached half a million students overseas.
“Childhood obesity is a serious health concern so we’re thrilled to provide an outlet and opportunity to increase the activity level of kids and teenagers,” stated Jasun Werner, president of Street Surfing. “Our global initiative is intended to engage and influence kids at a young age so they’ll stay active throughout their lives – all while having some fun in the process. The Street Surfing PE program is a hands-on way to connect youth from around the world. Age, race, and level of ability are not a factor. Everyone can ride the Wave.”
The Street Surfing PE Program provides equipment (Wave boards, helmets and accessories) to students and is designed to teach a new skill, “street surfing,” which works on core stability utilizing balance, weight transfer and movement through space. It encourages students to participate in a lifetime of physical activity that they can pursue both in and out of school and also provides feedback to a partner to assist in the development of body coordination.
Hansen, a European Street Surfing Distributor, believes these efforts are important for future generations. “To see the excitement we instill in them is a wonderful experience. Teaching kids from all economic backgrounds how to stay fit and lead a healthier life while having fun is what this program is all about.”
Street Surfing country manager Thomas Weissbauer has developed a great group of instructors who have added excitement to P.E. programs where school budgets have been cut dramatically.
States Weissbauer, “Students have had great interest and enjoyment in the program. It allows students to improve their balance and agility, while providing an opportunity to increase their heart rate. They don’t even realize that they are exercising. Through the program the students were instructed on techniques to make the use of this unconventional (Wave board) equipment much easier, and the great majority of them are Street Surfers after only 15 minutes.”
Street Surfing is working to expand their P.E. program to more developing countries. The hope is that kids around the world can experience “street surfing” and a healthier, fun life.
